Every year, Professor Sprout makes sure to take note of when Tu Bishvat is going to be, so she can grow the Seven Species in the Hogwarts greenhouses for the Jewish students. They’re the only nonmagical plants she grows.

When Tu Bishvat arrives, she clears one of the tables in one of the greenhouses for the students to have their seder with the fruit she’s grown. She also provides them with magical fruits, Hagrid gives them some of whatever he’s growing, and the students themselves bring various fruit-themed treats from Honeyduke’s. During the seder, the students levitate each fruit as they discuss the themes it represents, then use magic to peel it before eating it.

After the seder, Professor Sprout gives each Jewish first-year student a wandwood seed, which they plant in a pot (later, in the spring, Hagrid will help them to plant the saplings on the Hogwarts grounds). The Jewish upperclassmen visit their trees (which they’ve been caring for all year) to wish them Happy Birthday and sing to them. Some of the trees are inhabited by bowtruckles, who chatter eagerly at the songs and let the students hold them.

I’m cry!

Can i get a step by step on how to do this?

So far for me it’s been something like:

1. Become aware of how and when you tearing yourself down.

2. Now that you can catch yourself doing it. Offer counters to the negative self talk. A really useful thing I read was to talk to yourself almost the way you would child. Gentle and patient. Even when they fuck up.

3. Take time to celebrate your small accomplishments. You’ve been attacking yourself for every little mistake. Apply that same fervor to the positive things in your life. Did the dishes even though you didn’t want to? Fuck yeah! Got up and took shower? YES!!! You are taking positive steps to feeling better. Celebrate it.

4. Make lists of things you’re good at/ like about yourself. The first time I did this the only two things in my list we’re that I liked my hair and I had good friends. It was start.

5. Don’t beat yourself up if you screw up steps 1-4. It’s counter productive. When I catch myself calling my self stupid for some mistake or other my response now is,“We don’t talk to ourselves like that anymore. What’s something constructive that could actually help solve the problem.”

Most of the time that seems to work. Not always. But more and more Everytime.

I hope any of that made sense.

oh my goodness there are instructions!!

Before the computing era, ILM was the master of oil matte painting, making audiences believe that some of the sets in the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones trilogy were real when they weren’t. They were the work of geniuses like Chris Evans, Michael Pangrazio, Frank Ordaz, Harrison Ellenshaw and Ralph McQuarrie Forever thank you, to their handmade art and the work of their colleagues, that made us dream of impossible worlds and fantastic places across Earth and the Universe.

exCUSE ME?!?!!??!??! TheYRE PAINTINGS?!??!!?!

SHUT UP I thought they were miniatures!!!!

It’s too beautiful. I could cry.

I love this because I’ll be watching a movie and think “how did they do that? Is that a building they built for this movie? Was it there beforehand? Is it cardboard or CGI? Is that actually some place on Earth that they’re filming?” And the answer to all of these now is “nope, that’s a painting”. I can’t believe some of the most iconic, familiar shots were paintings!
